Kevin Brazell Senior Consultant
As a First-Team All-League Basketball player in high school, Coach Brazell earned a scholarship to St. John Fisher College where he was a two-sport athlete in basketball & cross-country, earning the distinction of Captain in his senior year. He began his coaching career at Bishop Ludden High School where he guided his team to a Sectional & Regional Championships in 1976. Since 1984, he has been the Head Girl’s Basketball Coach at Central Square, and has sent over 30 former players to a multitude of colleges & universities, including 5 Division I programs. His coaching resume includes the Empire State Games, and he has been named Coach of the Year three times. Coach Brazell earned his master’s degree in education from Syracuse University. A former educator, he now enjoys spending his time officiating soccer games, and helping guide student-athletes to their peak potential in the classroom and in the field of competition.
Dale Greabell Senior Consultant
Coach Greabell brings over 40 years of experience as a coach. A former standout 3-sport athlete at East Syracuse Minoa High School, he consistently exceeds expectations and understands how to get the most out of student-athletes. A unanimous First-Team All-County athlete in both baseball and basketball, he continued his athletic career at SUNY Cortland where he played both sports. Combining a sense of humor with honest and motivational feedback, Coach Greabell is a “player’s coach”. In his own words, “I have coached for over 40 years and run the gamut from teams that have gone undefeated, to those who have not won a game, and barely a coin toss.” His kindness and sense of humor is a welcomed addition to the VCG Team!
Will Hicks Senior Associate Consultant & Coach
Coach Hicks is responsible for our athletics performance and coaching clinics at the high school and collegiate levels. As Syracuse University’s assistant athletics director for athletic performance, Coach Hicks is responsible for the strength and conditioning programs for Olympic sports.
Hicks has coached several prominent professional athletes during his career, including NFL All-Pros Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis, San Diego and Arizona) and Chandler Jones (New England), Super Bowl Champions Arthur Jones (Baltimore and Indianapolis), Jameel McClain (Baltimore and New York Giants) and David Tyree (New York Giants), in addition to recent Syracuse graduates and current NFL players Ryan Nassib (New York Giants), Justin Pugh (New York Giants), Jay Bromley (New York Giants) and Shamarko Thomas (Pittsburgh Steelers).
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), Hicks attained (*E) Emeritus status from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in 2011. In 1999, Hicks was named the Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Due to the nature of and regulations set forth by the NCAA, Coach Hicks does not have any direct contact with high school student-athletes.
Kelly Thune Senior Leadership Strategist for Education Initiatives
Kelly Thune, B.A., M.A.T., C.A.S. brings expertise in the area of school leadership, developing collaborative cultures for change, STEAM/STEM initiative, designing optimal learning environments, and personal and professional transformation. In her role as a school leader, she was credited 2013 ESSAA NYS Zone 5 Administrator of the Year, 2013 NYSSBA Be The Change for Kids Innovation Award, 2013 PEB STEM Program of the Year Award, and 2010 NYS ASCD Education the Whole Child for the 21st Century Award.
After being injured by a student while working as a school leader and ultimately losing her career, financial stability, and home; Kelly developed a six-month plan, a year plan, and a two-year plan towards regaining health and purpose.
Part of her plan has been embodying the Finnish cultural context of sisu; a noun and a verb that translates to having perseverance, integrity, and tenacity when presented with life’s most significant challenges. Kelly demonstrates sisu in action and might assist you to find your sisu. Her book “Sisu To A New You” is in the professional edit phase of publishing. Experts are available at sisutoanewyou.com.
Mike “ML” Lindsley Event Emcee & Entertainment Guru
Lindsley has covered New York Yankee games, Baseball Hall of Fame inductions, Buffalo Bills Training Camp, Buffalo Sabres playoff games, PGA Championships at Oak Hill Country Club and all Syracuse sports teams, most notably the Syracuse University Men’s Basketball. “ML” also owns and operates the all-Yankees website Pinstripe Passion. Mike has interviewed sports hundreds of epic figures from sports legends Jack Nicklaus, Mariano Rivera, and Pete Rose, to social activists Jim Brown, and journalist Tom Brokaw. He is the host of the ML Sports Platter Podcast, and is the on-field sports public address announcer for the Syracuse Mets. A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Mike earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication, with a minor in Spanish. As sports director at WSBU radio, he hosted talk shows, reported on all Division One sports teams and color commentated for women's basketball. Mike also anchored and reported for WSBU-TV.
Kristen Tryon Social Media & Marketing Director
Kristen Tryon is a multidisciplinary designer with over 10 years experience in B2B/B2C design, social media, and marketing. Kristen has managed the design and marketing for numerous educational institutions, a nationwide nonprofit, and a billion dollar company. Her work has been in magazines, art galleries, on billboards, and she has designed several award-winning websites.
When not in the Adobe Creative Suite, Kristen enjoys spending quality time with her two dogs, pugs Tuesday and Louie. She has found that dog rescue - specifically that of pugs - has been a rewarding experience that has also led to several connections across the globe. The eldest of the two pugs, Tuesday, has a social media presence overseen by Kristen which has a following of over 30K people worldwide.
